Sometimes a fence is just what friends need. That may sound a bit strange since there are many people who think fences only divide and separate. I was at a meeting recently where a dedicated group of gardeners were discussing how they could be good neighbours. The popularity of their garden as a place to meet and talk with friends has grown a lot this warmer than average summer. So some changes are emerging at Garden 579. With the support of the PCGN a section of good neighbour fence will be built to give a bit of privacy for those living next door.
Garden 579 also has a new gate. Since the garden is open from 9am to 9pm there had to be a way to remind people that it was indeed closed each day until 9 am the next morning.
Levi and I helped out last Friday and again today by starting the post holes. We confidently dug the first two feet of each hole (yes that is the easiest part of a post hole to dig) dodging rocks the whole way! It is amazing what people used to throw into holes in their backyards.
