Jill Bishop - Coordinator

An avid gardener throughout her whole life, Jill has always loved getting out into gardens and helping others do the same. She firmly believes that 'gardens are communities in them selves, and an integral part of larger communities', and feels very lucky to be working with the PCGN.
Jill is also the owner of an heirloom seed business (urbantomato) that works to preserve many varieties of unique vegetables & teaches others to do the same.

Marcy Adzich, Community Garden Animator

Marcy is delighted to work with the PCGN, contributing experience and energy towards empowering communities through gardening. Having travelled and grown many things over 15 years in Oregon, BC and now, Ontario, Marcy loves the way that gardening brings out the best in everyone, and when we grow things together, we see the meaningful connection we have to one another and Mother Earth. Marcy operates Fox Hollow Wild Edibles, growing a unique variety of veggies and forages local wild mushrooms and other culinary delights.

Themes of the PCGN

a) Growing Kids & Youth:

Develop resources and support structures to provide children and youth opportunities to gain gardening and food related skills as well as the knowledge and opportunity to participate in the production and consumption of locally produced healthy food.

b) Growing Neighbourhoods:

Focus on providing residents opportunities to learn gardening and food related skills and increase access to additional space within neighbourhoods.

c) Growing Food Security:

Through the opportunity to grow some of their own food or by accessing locally grown food through supporting organizations, individual and community food insecurity can be addressed.
